The InterAmerican Women´s Forum against Corruption is hosted by the School of Law of Universidad de
Buenos Aires
- UBA and co-sponsored by UNIFEM and UNDEF – United Nations

Main goal:
to analyze and counteract the ways under which corruption assails women’s human rights.

Background:
The first WOMEN’S FORUM AGAINST CORRUPTION took place on September 22, 2000, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Over 300 women attended. Its main subject was: “Forms of corruption and how to prevent them in: government, mass-media, the practice of professions, workers unions, health, corporations, daily life (citizens’ rights), justice, environmental issues. The final panel addressed “Women in decision-making proposals for  public policies

The INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FORUM AGAINST CORRUPTION, was attended by 600 women from most countries of the Americas, from Africa and Europe, from October 31 to November 2, 2002, also in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Additional information: http://www.mujeresenigualdad.org.ar/otros_Foro1.htm

The 2008 INTER-AMERICAN WOMEN’S FORUM AGAINST CORRUPTION will include panel presentations, case discussions, open clinics (experts’ advising), cultural and social activities, strategy building to include a gender perspective in public policies against corruption and actively fight against  the culture of impunity. Even though the forum’s activities will focus on how corruption impacts on the women´s rights of the Americas, experts of other continents will also participate.
